William Agyapong Quaittoo Must Resign Or Be Sacked - What He Said About Dagombas Is Unpardonable And Abominable

There is something atavistic about African politicians who don't seem to realise that in the Africa of today, no tribe is superior or inferior  to another.

We really are particularly lucky that tribal bigotry is not widespread in  Ghana.

It is a blessing that has led to the happy situation we find ourselves in today - in which there is virtually no extended family clan in our country that is not made up of people from different ethnic backgrounds united by ties of  consanguinity and  marriage.

The disdain tribal supremacists have for their fellow humans, can, and on occassion, does lead to terrible consequences - such as the porgroms in Darfur and Southern Sudan, as well as the still harrowing Rwandan genocide.

No politician who shows any signs of  being fixated with stereotyping whole ethnic groups to the extent of saying derogatory things about them - on account of their ethnicity - in our homeland Ghana must be allowed to remain in office. That must be a given. Always.

That is why President Akufo-Addo's government must ensure that Hon. William Agyapong Quaittoo the Deputy Minister of Agriculture resigns from his position immediately. His position has become untenable.

He must either resign or be sacked by the president. Full stop. To label a whole tribe as liars is foolish and ignorant in this day and age - and incredibly arrogant. Just who does he think he is? Haaba.

We must respect and cherish our ethnic diversity - for it is that multi-cultural tapestry bequethed to us by President Nkrumah that enriches us as Ghanaians: who really are indeed one people with a common destiny. And that will be the case till the very end of time.

The  William Agyapong Quaittoos in our midst cannot govern such a nation. Indeed, they must not be allowed to by decent and fair-minded people in Ghanaian society. That is why he must be sacked from his position by the president immediately. What he said about Dagombas is abominable and unpardonable. Haaba.
