The NDC Must Reunite After Suyani - Or Victory Will Elude It In December 2012!

There are many Progressives in Ghana, who see any alliance with the political descendants of the Akan tribal-supremacist and elitist Dr. J. B. Danquah, in a Ghana that is a constitutional democracy, as a betrayal of Nkrumah's ideals - and an insult to the memory of Ghana's founding father Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.

For such Nkrumahists, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is a strategic lesser-evil-option to ally themselves with, in the national interest, in Ghana's democratic space - whiles the rebuilding of Nkrumah's Convention People's Party (CPP) continues apace.

Such Progressives believe that for the sake of Mother Ghana, it is vital that the NDC's two factions reunite quickly, after the inevitable victory of President Mills in the NDC primary a few days hence, to select that party's candidate for the December 2012 presidential election.

Clearly, if the NDC's candidate is to win the December 2012 presidential election, the party's two factions must unite and work closely together, to ensure their party's candidate's victory.

From the acrimonious nature of the campaign for election to the position of NDC flag-bearer for the 2012 elections, it is obvious that bridge-building will have to be undertaken to heal wounds and assuage hurt feelings, on both sides.

Both sides indeed have right on their side in the main points they make - and the NDC must incorporate those points in its battle plan for defeating the tribal-supremacist hypocrites, who seek to return to power again, to resume the looting of Ghana (through endless abuse of power and cunning exploitation of legal loopholes!), from where they left off when they were turfed out of office in December 2008.

President Mills is right to insist on due process and the rule of law in dealing with those blackguards - for that is what the vast majority of Ghanaians want. Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings is also right in demanding that Kufuor & Co, must not be allowed to get away with the brutal gang-rape of Mother Ghana - and again a majority of Ghanaians share that viewpoint too.

However, most Ghanaians do not want anyone to be hounded or persecuted, whiles investigations to expose past corruption goes on.

For his part, it is important that President Mills understands clearly and unambiguously, that the crooks of yesteryear are extremely clever and super-ruthless, to boot. They also have the money to enable them exploit all existing legal loopholes to prevent havingto pay for their many crimes against our country and its people.

If his regime continues to be complacent about dealing with those crooks of yesterday, and thereby allows them get away with their crimes against Mother Ghana, tomorrow, when they are able to get their party to return to power again, they will not spare him personally, in working hard to ensure that the NDC is weakened to the point of perpetual ineffectiveness.

And, with respect, for his information, as sure as day follows night, his misery under their regime will never cease - no matter what assurances they may give to him personally.

Of that he must be in no doubt, whatsoever - for, alas, many of them have the art and science of lying written into their DNA: and are pathological liars as a result. He must not believe a word those dissimulators tell him. It would be a grave error of judgment on his part to believe them.

It is important therefore, that the NDC goes into the December 2012 elections, as a strong and united party. And one hopes that the party's respected Mandela-like figures, such as Mr. Harry Sawyer, will be asked to help get the healing process underway quickly, once the Sunyani national delegates' congress ends.

To him and the other elder statesmen of the party, one would humbly suggest that they consider recommending the immediate appointment of one of the young generation of the Rawlings family, preferably Dr. Zenator Rawlings, as a presidential aide or minister of state, at the presidency.

It will be a gesture of reconciliation, and help give her parents an insight into the complex and difficult business (if they have forgotten it!), of governing this lucky but exasperating nation - that is full of indsciplined people on the make, and on the take,  who are quick to criticise their rulers.

Yet, a majority of Ghanaians constantly break all the rules and regulations designed to make for civilised living: and still expect their nation to be a paradise on earth - when they themselves refuse to change their negative ways, which make the progress of our nation such a difficult thing to achieve. Amazing.

(Which, incidentally, is why we are a nation that is: teeming with individuals who are often economical with the truth; a country awash with hard-of-hearing hawkers, defiant of the edicts of city authorities;  tax-evaders galore peopled with disloyal and low-productivity employees (be they public or private sector employees!); fence-sitting moral cowards full of religious humbug; etc., etc. But I digress!).

Giving such a position to one of the younger members of the Rawlings family, will definitely help bring the two sides of the feuding NDC together again, after the national delegates' congress in Sunyani.

Dr. Zenator Rawlings is no stooge of her parents, much as she loves them - as she has a conscience and very good values. Above all, she is of the younger generation of well-educated Ghanaians, who must be groomed to lead our country one day.

One hopes therefore that both sides in the wholly unnecessary feuding in the NDC, will see the practical benefits of such a placatory move, by the Mills regime.

Surely, the NDC ought to be smart enough, to clearly understand that there is no alternative to a united party - in ensuring victory for their party in the December 2012 presidential and parliamentary elections? One certainly hopes so. -;
