Hollywood and several universities continue to distance themselves from Bill Cosby, who was convicted of aggravated indecent assault charges last week.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences ousted the 80-year-old comedian along with director Roman Polanski Thursday, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

"The Board continues to encourage ethical standards that require members to uphold the Academy's values of respect for human dignity," the board said in a statement announcing the move. The organization created new rules after it expelled Harvey Weinstein from its ranks last fall.

The Television Academy also has removed Cosby's name from its list of Hall of Fame honorees, per THR. A statue of Cosby in the Hall of Fame Plaza in North Hollywood, removed earlier for renovations, will not return to the site.

A spokesperson for the television academy told Deadline there are no plans to rescind Cosby's four prime time Emmys and his Bob Hope Humanitarian Award.

Yale joined 20 other universities including Boston College, SUNY, and Penn in rescinding Cosby's honorary degree this week.

It was the first time Yale rescinded an honorary degree, NPR reports. Students have been pushing for the board to revoke the degree since 2014, The Atlantic reports. Cosby has been the recipient of more than 60 honorary degrees, according to Inside Higher Ed.

The board awarding the Marian Anderson award in Philadelphia also voted to revoke the honor given to Cosby in 2010, The Philadelphia Business Journal reports.

Cosby's wife, Camille, defended her husband Thursday in a post on his Facebook page and other social media accounts, calling his conviction "mob justice" that compares to the fate of Emmett Till, the 14-year-old who was lynched in Mississippi in 1955.
