Surprising Percentage Of People Prefer Masturbation To Sex, Global Study Finds

As it turns out, a good proportion of the world’s population don’t think you need a partner for sexual pleasure.
A 2019 study by Tokyo-based sexual wellness company Tenga has revealed that over a quarter of people actually prefer masturbation over sex with partners.
According to the report—which involves the observations of 10,000 men and women from nine countries worldwide—27-percent of women and 21-percent of men find touching themselves to be better than intercourse. Sexual performance anxiety is found to be one of the main reasons for the preference.
29-percent of American women surveyed said they feel impelled to please men sexually, and 28-percent of American men feel pressured to delay orgasm, making these the biggest factors for performance anxiety during sex for the two genders.

Americans who masturbate have also given three main reasons for masturbating as satisfying urges, pleasure and relieving stress, with only a very small minority doing it due to lack of a partner.
Half of global participants perceive masturbation as an activity that improves mental health and wellbeing, even surpassing relaxing pastimes like getting a massage, meditation and taking hot baths.
Another fascinating aspect of the study is its revelation of Hollywood celebrities that are most likely to fuel Americans’ imagination while self-pleasuring. The “most popular” females are Jennifer Anniston, Jennifer Lopez, Beyoncé and Jennifer Lawrence while male stars include Jason Momoa, Chris Brown, Brad Pitt and Johnny Depp.
If anything, the survey results bring the meaning of self-love to a whole new level.
