Last spring, the Justice Department approved the merger of Bayer the Bee-Slayer and Monsanto the Butterfly Killer.
This happened despite the fact that beekeepers lost an average of 40% of their hives last year. Bayer is a top manufacturer of neonicotinoid pesticides, which are a key factor in bee declines. But instead of helping save bees, the Justice Department put them even more at risk.
At Friends of the Earth Action, we’re building a nationwide movement to stop Bayer-Monsanto from killing bees and harming our food system. But we need your help!

93% of farmers surveyed thought this mega-merger was a bad idea. And more than 1 million Americans called on the Trump Administration to stop it.
But instead of protecting the interests of farmers, consumers and the environment, the Administration sided with the pesticide companies.
And it’s clear why. The two pesticide companies combined spent more than $5 million on lobbying in 2017 alone.
If we’re going to save the bees, we need to stop this consolidation of agriculture. That’s why we’re working with our champions in Congress to prevent future mega-mergers like this. And we can take the fight outside of Washington and work with supermarkets, garden retailers, and state and local governments to get toxic pesticides out of our food system and reduce Bayer-Monsanto’s control.

This merger happened as part of a massive wave of consolidation in our food system. Dow and DuPont already merged. So did ChemChina and Syngenta.
We’re turning our food system over to mega-corporations that have enormous political power and control over prices, quality and options for farmers and consumers.
This is bad news for the bees and butterflies whose declines are linked to pesticides. It's bad for small farmers and organic food producers who are being undermined by industrial agriculture. And it's bad for people like you and me who could be exposed to even higher levels of toxic pesticides.
At Friends of the Earth Action, we’re working to stop Bayer and Monsanto from controlling our food system -- but we need your help.
Donate now and help save bees and butterflies from toxic pesticides!
