Harvey Weinstein accuser Rose McGowan called for lawyer Lisa Bloom
to be disbarred after learning a new book by the New York Times
reporters who broke the story of Weinstein’s alleged repeated abuse of
women revealed Bloom’s role in a plan to discredit the actress.
"The evil that was perpetrated on me and others was mind bending and illegal," McGowan tweeted in reaction to a post about the book by HuffPost contributor Yashar Ali.
In her review, Faludi said the book calls out Weinstein’s “surround-sound ‘complicity machine’ of board members and lawyers, human resource officers and P.R. flaks, tabloid publishers and entertainment reporters who kept him rampaging with impunity years after his behavior had become an open secret.”
Bloom's plan included an online campaign and articles in the press to sully the reputation of the accusers while at the same time suppressing negative articles about Weinstein and making “pre-emptive” moves to show him as “evolving” on women’s issues and gender equality, per quotes from the book.
McGowan was specifically targeted because Weinstein believed she was going to expose him in the memoir she was writing, per USA Today.

A December 2016 memo from Bloom to Weinstein outlined a six-point plan to destroy victims’ credibility, per Susan Faludi’s NYT review of “SHE SAID: Breaking the Sexual Harassment Story That Helped Ignite a Movement,” by Jodi Kantor and Megan Twohey. The evil that was perpetrated on me and others was mind bending and illegal.
