Ghanaian Politicians Must Stop The Allegations And Counter-Allegations Against Each Other- And Focus Instead On Collaborating To Make Mother Ghana Prosperous

Why do politicians who claim to care so much about the plight of Mother Ghana, and say that they want to improve the lot of  the millions of Ghanaians trapped in the base-of-the-pyramid demographic, spend all their time making allegations and counter-allegations against each other?

An egregious example, is the non-productive cocoa-sector verbal-war between the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP)  and the biggest opposition party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC). Hmm, Oman Ghana, eyeasem o.

Sadly, both parties fail to see just how  imperilled Ghana's cocoa sector is  - by  the ruinous environmentally destructive activities of illegal loggers and small-scale gold mining companies: both legally registered ones  and galamseyers.

Neither do many of  our nation's politicians understand that making Ghana the world's biggest producer of certified organic  cocoa beans is the only way to secure  the future of Ghana's cocoa industry.  Hmm, eyeasem o: What a hard-of-hearing lot they are, in that regard. Pity.

For the sake of our nation's younger generations, this blog humbly suggests that instead of the endless bickering, members of Ghana's political class ought to  focus instead on creating a prosperous society in our country that will ensure that all Ghanaians have a good quality of life, and enjoy  some of the highest living standards in the world - regardless of the strata of Ghanaian society that they happen to find themselves fitting into at any particular point in time of  their lives.

It is still not too late for them to change for the better: Members of our political class can turn over a new leaf, collectively, by collaborating to ensure that Ghana has a national  digital addressing system that is actually fit-for-purpose and truly world-class. Haaba.

The relevant parliamentary oversight committee must quickly get Vokacom to collaborate with the UK tech company, what3words, to give our country the selfsame class-leading and superior digital addressing system chosen by the likes of Daimler Benz: the what3words global digital addressing system.

Vokacom, the Dansoman-based local tech start-up,  will doubtless benefit from any such collaboration - as will Mother Ghana ultimately.

Above all, in case it escapes them,  base-of-the-pyramid-Ghanaians are fast losing faith in and becoming  increasingly impatient with a mostly self-seeking and self-serving ruling elite, which appears to be oblivious of the plight of those in Ghana who are yet to get their fair share of the so-called democracy-dividend.

Finally, if politicians in Ghana do not want to suffer the same  fate that befell the Arab leaders (such as Libya's Gaddafi, Tunisia's  Ben Ali and Egypt's Mubarak) who were ousted from power by the Arab Spring street demonstrations, the NPP and NDC would be wise to end the unproductive  allegations and counter-allegations they make against each other - and focus instead on collaborating to make Mother Ghana prosperous. Haaba.
