Greenpeace Africa: NO Nuclear! Ask Minister to scrap new nuclear power plant

We're at the Department of Environmental Affairs to demand that the minister revokes the environmental authorization for a new nuclear power plant.

Hi,
LIVE from the Department of Environmental Affairs!

Greenpeace Africa and Earthlife Africa Jhb activists have chained themselves to the entrance of the department to send out a clear message:

We want the authorisation for a new nuclear plant near Cape Town to be withdrawn, we won't leave until our demands are met.
Nuclear is never safe, it's too expensive and renewable energy is a better option!

Send this letter to the Department of Environmental Affairs!

It is the minister's responsibility to ensure our constitutional right to a healthy environment. By green lighting this nuclear power station, the department is putting the lives of South Africans at risk, including future generations. Read more here.
We are calling on all South Africans to support us in our appeal to the Minister to retract the authorisation of the new nuclear power station for Duynefontein. Electricity tariffs are skyrocketing due to delays in Eskom’s new coal plant construction, we can expect the same (but at a MUCH larger scale) if SA invests in nuclear power. Don't allow the government to waste taxpayers’ money, have your say!

Send this letter to the department now!

Thank you for all that you do!
