PositiveMoney: Making the Case for a Post-Keynesian Economic Paradigm
Dear Reader,
We are pleased to invite you to an upcoming event in Hammersmith!
Making the Case for a Post-Keynesian Economic Paradigm
Most if not all of our followers, both from the left and from the libertarian right (those advocating a non-fiat currency system) are in agreement that neoliberalism is bad and should be abandoned. However, when it comes to possible alternatives, everybody seems to be at a loss.
Our organiser Costanza Picchioni has mentioned many times that there is no need to reinvent the wheel: the most readily available solution would be to consider a revised and upgraded version of the Keynesian paradigm, the type of economic governance that gave us 30 golden years of redistributive growth after WWII.
There is a lot of collective amnesia on the subject, or confusion at best. Not surprisingly, all ideas that could actually pose a threat to the current state of affairs are carefully kept out of the public debate. In this meet up we will try to clarify the main aspects of the Keynesian paradigm: how it worked, why everything started to go wrong in the 70's, and what could be done in the future to avoid the reoccurrence of similar problems.
Costanza will also treat the audience to some episodes of British economic history that, although no more than 45 years old, seem to be completely absent from the common consciousness.
At the end of the presentation we will open the debate and will see if anybody is convinced that a post-Keynesian paradigm would be a good idea, or that it would be feasible at all. As usual all opinions are welcome!
Come and join us in Hammersmith! If it's your first time then you're very welcome to come along as we have a friendly group of regulars and most likely some first timers too.
