“Breakthrough Liposomal Technology Takes the Grandfather of Antioxidants to a Whole New Level of Comfort and Usability*”
In the past, if you wanted to take a higher dose of vitamin C but didn’t want the typical tummy discomfort or loose stools, your only option was intravenous or I.V. vitamin C. Now, liposomal technology changes all that. This superstar nutrient re-emerges as a versatile defender for all age groups.*

How Dr. Mercola’s Liposomal Vitamin C stands apart from traditional oral vitamin C supplements
Advanced liposomal technology helps transport vitamin C molecules across your gut membrane for enhanced bioavailability potential*
Utilizes phospholipids to help reduce potential of gastrointestinal distress associated with traditional oral vitamin C**
Liposomal Vitamin C is available at 1000 mg dose for adults and Liposomal Vitamin C for Kids contains a smaller 125 mg dose for children 4 years and older

If there’s one key staple that belongs in everyone’s home supply kit, it’s vitamin C. Useful year round, this vitamin stands in a league of its own.

Vitamin C is often overlooked or passed over for newer, trendier supplements. And that’s too bad… This superstar vitamin continues to prove its worth and the research touting its potential benefits only grows each year.

What makes vitamin C so valuable? Considered the “grandfather” of antioxidants, vitamin C plays a dual role in your body. First, it functions as a powerful antioxidant. Second, it acts as an essential nutrient. Together, these two roles fuel many functions:

Supports collagen synthesis, an important structural component of your bones, blood vessels, tendons, ligaments and skin*
    Supports heart and vascular health*
Supports healthy blood pressure levels already within the normal range*
    Supports immune system function*
Acts as an essential cofactor in enzymatic reactions*
Helps protect against damaging free radicals*
    Supports your healthy metabolism*
Helps maintain healthy bones and teeth*
    Aids in healthy eye support*
    Supports healthy hormone production*
Helps promote healthy uric acid metabolism*
    Helps your body absorb iron*
Supports brain health by aiding the production of neurotransmitters*
Boosts the actions of other antioxidants*

And that’s just the start, but I think you get the idea. Vitamin C is not a vitamin you want to run low on…
Why You May Have Low Levels of Vitamin C

While severe deficiencies are rare today, many people have low levels of vitamin C.

Why? According to recent estimates, only one in 10 adults eat the recommended amounts of vegetables and fruits. And considering these food groups include the best dietary sources of vitamin C, that’s one key way you can end up with low levels.

There are other ways, too… Certain groups are more likely to have lower levels of vitamin C than others:

Anyone with an impaired ability to digest and absorb food
Older individuals due to normal absorption challenges associated with aging
Students and others who may be eating a less varied diet
Smokers due to increased oxidative stress from cigarette smoke and a decreased ability to absorb vitamin C from foods
Pregnant and breastfeeding moms due to an increased requirement for vitamin C

So how can you tell if you may be running low? Here are some signs associated with low vitamin C levels:
woman dry splitting hair
Dry or splitting hair may be a sign that you’re not getting enough vitamin C

    Dry skin
    Bruise easily
    Muscle and joint pains
    Tiredness and weakness
    Dry or splitting hair
    Bleeding and swollen gums
    Nosebleeds
    Slow wound healing
    Tooth loss
    Frequent infections
    Changes in bone health

What’s the Best Way to Keep Your Vitamin C Levels High?

Unlike most mammals, humans have lost their ability to produce their own vitamin C. According to world renowned vitamin C expert Dr. Ronald Hunninghake, with the exception of humans, primates and guinea pigs, every creature can greatly increase their body’s own production of vitamin C when needed.

The interesting thing is… You still have the gene that converts glucose to vitamin C. It’s just non-functional!

That leaves you on your own to get enough vitamin C. Basically, there are three ways to provide your body with the quantities you may need…
traditional oral-vitamin-c
Absorption of traditional oral vitamin C may be 20 percent or lower

Eat vitamin C-containing vegetables and fruits such as berries, citrus fruits, kiwi fruit, melons, spinach, peppers, tomatoes, cauliflower, cabbage, broccoli and Brussels sprouts
Take an oral vitamin C supplement. Fine for smaller doses, but taking higher doses of traditional oral vitamin C may be problematic
Have vitamin C administered intravenously (IV). Obviously, this requires the services of a health care professional and can be time-consuming and costly

A challenge with taking an oral vitamin C supplement is that your body typically absorbs only a small percentage of the nutrient.

Estimates range as low as less than 20 percent. The rest of the nutrient stays behind in your colon and can attract water and result in loose stools.

This brings up another potential challenge with traditional oral vitamin C…

It can potentially cause occasional gastrointestinal distress. Traditional oral vitamin C supplements are typically not well tolerated in higher doses and can cause intestinal discomfort.

Thankfully, cutting-edge science brings us an advanced form of vitamin C that eliminates most of these hassles. This extraordinary type of oral vitamin C helps put these challenges to rest.
Cutting Edge Liposomal Technology Helps You Get More Mileage and Comfort Out of Your Vitamin C*

If you’re like me, sometimes you want to take a higher dose of vitamin C. Current research supports taking higher doses at times when you may need it most.*

You might have heard of a new process called liposomal technology that’s being used to increase absorption of nutrients. This process occurs naturally in krill oil. The omega-3 fats are bound to phospholipids that radically increase absorption compared to fish oil.

Liposomal technology allows us to mimic that process in your gut to improve nutrient absorption.

To better understand this process, know that phospholipids are…
liposomes-technology
Liposomes help vitamin C molecules gain entry across your gut membrane

The building blocks for your cell membrane*
Regulators of cellular transport by functioning as "gate-keepers”*
Protectors of cell membranes against free radical assaults*
The same cellular complex found in egg yolks and krill oil*

With liposomal technology, the phospholipids in the capsule can form liposomes in your stomach.

Studies show the movement of water is sufficient to create some liposomes. Stresses are high in the stomach, with stomach fluids in near constant motion, which could create an even greater amount of liposomes.

Since liposomes can help the nutrient gain entry across your gut membrane to its target organs and cells, more liposomes could lead to an increased rate of absorption.

The research is now quite clear. One of the best and most practical ways to supplement your diet with oral vitamin C, especially higher doses, is with a liposomal form of vitamin C.
How Liposomal Absorption Is Radically Different From Intestinal Absorption

Traditional oral vitamin C has an important shortcoming… It lacks the bioavailability advantages of the liposomal technology. Here’s how liposomal absorption differs from intestinal absorption:

With intestinal absorption…

Food and nutrients must first be broken down by your digestive system
Absorption can occur once nutrients are broken down into smaller fragments
The nutrient fragments enter your bloodstream for your body to utilize

However, with liposomal technology…

Phospholipids can coat the nutrient to form liposomes that protect and aid in transport of the nutrient
The liposomes are absorbed from your GI tract into your bloodstream
Absorbed liposomes can penetrate your cellular membranes and targeted tissues more rapidly*

The liposomal process helps reduce the potential gastrointestinal distress that can accompany higher levels of traditional oral vitamin C.* And scientific research suggests that liposomal vitamin C may increase bioavailability over what was previously thought possible.*

To better understand how liposomal technology works, I urge you to watch the video below.

Now that we know how to help ensure you don’t run low on vitamin C, let’s take a closer look at what healthy levels can potentially do for you…
Reaping the Benefits of Vitamin C as an Antioxidant
antioxidant vitamin c
Super-antioxidant vitamin C may help reduce some signs of normal aging

Antioxidants are your body’s natural mechanism to help neutralize free radicals – those byproducts created when your cells burn fuel for your body’s needs. Free radicals can damage cells and tissues throughout your body.

Research suggests antioxidants support your overall health, especially your heart and immune health.* They may also play a role in helping to reduce some of the symptoms of normal aging.*

There are two types of antioxidants: water-soluble and lipid-soluble. Your body requires both because each one targets different types of cells and tissues for free radical scavenging:

Water-soluble antioxidants – Present in your blood, intracellular and extracellular fluids. Include vitamin C, resveratrol, glutathione, and catechins.
Lipid-soluble antioxidants – Found in your cellular membranes and lipoproteins as they protect membranes from lipid peroxidation.* My favorites are vitamins E and astaxanthin.

I recommend getting both types of antioxidants from as many sources as possible. Each type of antioxidant has its own special function in helping repair and protect your cells from free radical damage.* And when taken together, the efficacy of water- and lipid-soluble antioxidants can be enhanced even more.*

Want to know more about why antioxidants are so important for your health? Watch this short video…

So what makes vitamin C stand out in its actions as an antioxidant? It:

Is a major "electron donor" in your body’s battle against oxidation*
Helps maintain optimal electron flow in your cells*
Can help protect vital molecular elements in your body such as proteins and lipids*

Earlier I said vitamin C plays a dual role in your body – as an antioxidant and as an essential nutrient. Let’s see how it can potentially affect your heart and vascular health as a nutrient…*
Could a Daily Dose of Vitamin C Actually Be as Good as Exercise for Your Heart?
vitamin c supplementation
Vitamin C supplementation may offer similar benefits as a daily walk*

Some of the most exciting research to emerge in recent years about vitamin C is its potential positive effects on your bloods vessels.

While I would never discourage anyone from exercising regularly, it appears that a daily dose of vitamin C might offer some additional benefits for heart health and be a wise lifestyle strategy, especially for sedentary overweight or obese adults.*

Keep in mind, no matter your age or physical shape, daily exercise is key to not only looking and feeling good, but it’s important for all your cells and body functions. In my opinion, there’s no replacement for exercise. If you’re just starting out, take it slowly to build up your tolerance.

Back to that vascular health research… Researchers wanted to take a closer look at earlier findings that vitamin C supplements positively effect blood vessel function.*

A total of 35 sedentary, overweight or obese adults entered the 3-month study. Obese and overweight adults tend to have higher levels of activity of a certain protein that constricts blood vessels, putting those adults at higher risk.

About half of the participants did regular aerobic exercise training such as walking and the other half took a daily dose of 500 mg of regular oral vitamin C.

Measuring markers for the vessel constricting protein activity, the researchers found that both groups responded equally in a positive manner.*

What may matter most with vitamin C and how it supports heart and vascular health is your plasma vitamin C levels.* Eating a vitamin C-rich diet daily or supplementing regularly with vitamin C tends to raise plasma levels.*
Why Kids Need Vitamin C Just as Much as You Do
vitamin c for children
Children need vitamin C, too, especially to support their developing immune systems

If you’re a parent or a grandparent, you know it can be challenging to get kids to eat the right types of foods, especially vegetables. This can put them at risk for low vitamin C levels as well…

Children’s immune health gets tested year-round, so it’s important for their immune cells to have adequate supplies of vitamin C. In healthy individuals, high concentrations of vitamin C are typically found in immune cells.

However, support for their healthy immune function isn’t the only reason kids need vitamin C.*

Vitamin C is needed for the growth and development of your child’s body and mind.* It’s especially essential for the formation of:

Neurotransmitters and other important brain and nervous system chemicals*
Collagen, blood vessels, muscle, ligaments, cartilage, skin and other tissues*
Carnitine for energy production as it transports fatty acids into the mitochondria to produce energy and carries out toxic wastes*

Children who may be exposed to secondhand smoke need even more vitamin C to help repair damage from smoke inhalation and exposure.

For all these reasons (and more), I decided to formulate a vitamin C supplement for kids four years and over. My Liposomal Vitamin C for Kids offers a dosage level in a tiny capsule that’s just right for them.
4 Reasons Why My Liposomal Vitamin C Deserves to Be Your Go-to Source for the ‘Grandfather’ of Antioxidants

Utilizes liposomal technology for bioavailability and gastrointestinal protection advantages*
Liposomes which can form in the stomach may be absorbed better than traditional oral vitamin C
Includes sunflower lecithin as an emulsifier instead of soy lecithin
Is produced by a high-quality manufacturer to ensure you receive nothing but the best liposomal vitamin C

Just as you would never hire a contractor or an employee without checking their credentials, I believe it’s equally or more important to highly scrutinize the credentials of the company making my supplements. And that's exactly what I did…
Why You Can Trust My Liposomal Vitamin C to Meet Your Vitamin C Needs

When selecting our top-notch manufacturer to produce my Liposomal Vitamin C formula, I paid careful attention to their quality processes. I wanted to make sure you would have the very best vitamin C product I could find..

Here is just some of the history behind this innovative company…
vitamin c licaps

Developed the concept of sealing a capsule without "banding" in response to consumer safety concerns in the late 1980s
Spent more than 15 years developing the unique "Licaps®" capsule design and processes
Successfully received cGMP certification for its facility in France in 2003
Has been a world-leader in capsule manufacturing for more than a century with 10 manufacturing sites running 24/7 in the Americas, Asia, and Europe
Manufactures over 50 percent of all two-piece capsules out there today with more than 180 billion capsules produced on an annual basis

My Liposomal Vitamin C is delivered using a "Licaps" hard shell capsule instead of a softgel. Licaps use innovative "Fusion Technology" to seal the capsule without the use of banding.

This extraordinary liquid capsule technology can provides many beneficial advantages over others because it…

Reduces oxidation potential by flushing the liquid formulation with nitrogen during the capsule-filling process, creating a "freshness bubble"
Ensures two-piece capsules are hermetically and tightly sealed to significantly reduce the potential for leakage
Enhances shelf-life through exemplary filling and sealing processes

The bottom line with Licaps hard capsules… the contents inside retain freshness while the possibility of leakage is virtually reduced to zero!
Liposomal Vitamin C: An Extraordinary Way to Complement Your Dietary Vitamin C Needs

I believe Liposomal Vitamin C is an excellent and practical way to meet your needs for a high-quality vitamin C. Here’s a quick summary of why I recommend this exceptional formula…
liposomal vitamin c

Delivers liposomal vitamin C, which can be transported across your gut membrane with ease into your bloodstream and then target cells and organs.
Incorporates phospholipids to help protect your cell membranes and aid in the formation of liposomes in the stomach*
Utilizes liposomal technology for higher-bioavailability potential and protection against occasional intestinal discomfort*
Includes a sunflower lecithin emulsifier, thereby totally avoiding soy

Frequently Asked Question

    1. Q: Is it possible for air to get in the hard shell liquid capsules?

A: The hard shell liquid capsules are hermetically sealed, either with an ultrasonic sealing or using a band. The bubble is a nitrogen bubble. Unlike softgels which have plasticizers which create channels for moisture and oxygen to penetrate the capsule, hard shell capsules do not. All these technologies help prevent and minimize air getting into the capsules.
    2. Q: Do I need to worry about the paprika in the product?

A: Paprika as a spice is a nightshade vegetable and some people are sensitive to the volatile alkaloids present in nightshades. However, in our Liposomal Vitamin C, the paprika used is the extract form as opposed to the whole spice. The volatile oils/pungency have been removed, retaining primarily carotenoids and lipids.
