Fisker reveals name and details of upcoming electric SUV
The name, as well as details about the upcoming SUV that will be the first to be sold under the Fisker name since founder Henrik Fisker’s original electric car company Fisker Automotive went broke in 2013, were teased by the founder on Twitter overnight on Thursday (Australian time).
According to Fisker, the Fisker Ocean electric SUV will be produced in the United States, with a “production intent prototype” to be completed by the end of 2019 and unveiled in January 2020. Orders will open to the US on November 27, 2019.
But it will not technically be “on sale” – even though Fisker in July said that pricing would start at under $US40,000 ($A58,000 converted) – instead, it will be available on a flexible lease with no long term contract.
The first of three new electric vehicles planned by Fisker, Inc., the dual motor Fisker Ocean will have an 80kWh battery pack with over 480km range.
In terms of actual connectivity and other technical specifications, Fisker is not yet giving a lot away.
What we do know is that the Fisker Ocean will have “future-forward” radars set behind the geometric design that replaces the grille, a large heads up display will adorn the dash and occupants will benefit from a spacious interior.
Optional 22″ wheels will be offered, and aerodynamics will feature in the lower body design.
The company is also working on a “concierge service model” (Fisker’s answer to Elon’s robo-taxis?) that will deliver “s .
The Fisker Ocean will be launched prior to the originally planned low-volume, high-end EMotion. Instead, this will be brought to market after the Fisker Ocean becomes available, Fisker says.
