RenewEconomy’s summer readership jumps 70% in 2017/18

Page views and visitor numbers to the RenewEconomy website jumped sharply over the summer period, as interest grew in core subjects of renewable technologies, energy policy, grid issues, battery storage and electric vehicles.

Data from Google Analytics shows page views in the summer period – which in Australia, of course, is December 1 to February 28 – totalled 2.4 million (despite the fact that the website took a four-week holiday over the Christmas/New Year period).

This compared to page views of 1.4 million in the summer of 2016/17 (where we only took a three-week holiday). It is a jump of 71 per cent.

Visitor numbers experienced a similar jump, up 75 per cent to 809,000 unique visitors, compared to 461,000 in the previous summer.

This is especially gratifying because it builds on the extremely solid 45 per cent jump in traffic in calendar 2017, when total page views to 8.4 million in 2017.

If this continues – and we see no reason why it shouldn’t, given the rollout of renewables, the excitement of storage and EVs, and the intense debate over policy – then RenewEconomy is heading for page views of more than 12 million for 2018.
