U.S. News and World Report has named Princeton University its top university for the eighth consecutive year in its annual ranking of the best colleges.

Princeton was followed by Harvard University at No. 2.

The annual ranking includes data on more than 1,800 schools across the country. For the first time this year, the measured metrics include the graduation rates of low-income students. Acceptance rate, meanwhile, was eliminated as a factor, while the weight of expert opinions and SAT/ACT scores were among the elements reduced in the methodology.

California schools got a big bump in the rankings with the new criteria because the system graduates a high number of low-income students, Fortune reports. UCLA was ranked 19th, while the University of California - Berkeley was tied with Georgetown for 22nd.
