Revenues from ports in Ghana, make up a significant proportion of total taxes collected annually, by the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA). It is therefore vital that cutting-edge technological advances designed to make ports run more efficiently, and prevent revenue leakage, which are deployed in the world's leading ports, are adopted in Ghana too, quickly. Preventing revenue leakage at our ports will enable initiatives such as free education from kindergarten to tertiary level to be rolled out in the shortest possible timeframe.
Sector government ministers who oversee our nation's maritime sector, and senior port officials, need to attend international conferences held for stakeholders in the global economy's maritime sector, regularly, and also participate in online webinars frequently, to enable them adopt industry best practices in their work. To inspire all such government ministers, and upper echelon public officials who run our ports, today, we have culled an interesting Q&A article from Port Technology. We do hope our many brilliant young Ghanaian readers will also find it useful, too.
