We are delighted to announce what3words voice search is now available in over 20 languages. Many of these languages have never been available for voice input before and we are very pleased to offer this fantastic new feature to more people than ever – thanks to our brilliant teams of language consultants.

Our app is almost 50% smaller

One of the best things about what3words is that it’s global. Previously, offering 26 languages in our app meant our app size was pretty large.

We understand how important mobile data and storage capacity is to you, so we’ve been working hard to develop a simple solution. By creating downloadable language packs, we are pleased to say that we’ve made the download size for our app almost 50% smaller. With our latest app update, your phone will only store the information needed for your selected language.
How it works

The latest version of the what3words app for iOS and Android will ask you to select your preferred language when you open the app.

Each language pack only requires a small download. Once you’ve chosen and downloaded the language pack, the app will start as usual.

It’s easy to switch to another what3words language. Simply select one from the settings menu and download that pack. You’ll be able to share 3 word addresses in each language you’ve downloaded onto your phone.
Thank you

We would like to extend a big thank you to the hundreds of language consultants and beta testers working with us, for their continued dedication and support – your hard work has been essential to making this happen!
